This versatile and durable canvas bag showcases retro WPA poster artwork from the 1930's promoting good eating habit in school. During the Great Depression, at a time when jobs were scarce, the Works Progress Administration (WPA) began commissioning many construction and public infrastructure projects in parks, schools and roads. At its height, more than 3.3 million Americans worked for the WPA. In one of its most famous projects, Federal Project Number One, the WPA employed musicians, artists, writers, actors and directors in arts, drama, media, and literacy projects.
Many of the posters crafted from that effort are very relatable to us at Purnell. They embody our brand heritage: classic design, innovative problem-solving and a strong work ethos.
Purnell Santa Barbara Workwear logo is printed on reverse panel.
